I cant wait to see the results mate, anything over 140 would be good but I reckon you will get closer to 150Trottagti wrote:Yeah it's problems all across the range on lupos n polos, shame but hopefully il be ok.

Whilst at work today (part-time apprentice at a garage), I blurted out that student loans were going to drop next week. The guy who owns the unit opposite us managed to hear me out, and said you know you can turbo your lump.

You can Turbo anything to be fair but a cheaper quicker option would be a 100 shot of NOS lol
Re: Trotta's progress thread *.!REMAP FRIDAY+FITTED CLAMPS!.
Come on Craigy, you know you want to
As far as Im concerned, to turbo our gtis involves:
1. Uprating that damn gearbox with adamantium.
2. Compression plate.
3. Emerald ECU. (UK support, instead of the fricking americas)
4. Find a suitable turbo.
5. Pipe it all up.
6. Exhaust manifold made up.
7. Bigger injectors if needs be.

Complete engine rebuild is required if you want big power mate, the standard internals won’t last long if you’re running 175bhp + which let’s face it isn’t enoughTrunkz wrote:Come on Craigy, you know you want toAs far as Im concerned, to turbo our gtis involves:

Supercharger would be a better option really but even then you’re limited on the power output unless you strengthen the engine internals.
What Craig really needs to do is drop a Honda B16 engine in the Polo for pure DUB-TEC power! 183 bhp standard and 9,000 rpm rev limit
Re: Trotta's progress thread *.!REMAP FRIDAY+FITTED CLAMPS!.
Our Mini friend is running a standard 1.6 vauxhall engine turbo-charged with water injection at a smidge over 300bhp. Im aiming to hit the 200bhp mark with standard internals. The only real worry is the gearbox, so long as I get that uprated then we shouldnt have an issue. Even if I decide to uprate the internals, it still wouldnt hit the 2K mark, whereas most firms quote around 5K to drop a 20vt in.

2K is a shoe string budget but if you can do it for that price then hats off to you, cant see it being done though...4K would be a realistic budget to start with.
One of the lads on ClubLupo has spent over 10K on his Supercharged GTI.
Standard internals wont handle 200bhp though and thats a fact. The lad in holland on here originally had his GTI running 195bhp and the engine just couldnt cope with it, he had to uprate everything in the end and its now pushing well over 200bhp.
Gearbox would need to be seriously improved and that wouldnt come cheap either...
