Polo R was never going to happen in reality. Nipping at the heels of performance Golf's too much.
Probably the Worlds greatest Polo resource

Wouldn't moan about September delivery. Ive bin waiting since Feb lolDrew1990 wrote:Hi all new to here,
I have just recently ordered my GTI with the following options
-3 door Manual
-Deep Pearl
-Convenience Pack
-Parking Pack
-Front arm rest
Looking like a September delivery which is a shame as I'd of liked it for the summer months.
Did any of you on here order the Car-net option?
The hardest decision I had was what colour to go with....I hope I made the right decision
Haha fair enough, I bet your itching to get it now! Do you know when you're likely to get it? Did you order a 3 or 5 door?Andy4791 wrote: Wouldn't moan about September delivery. Ive bin waiting since Feb lol
Carplay wasn't an option when I ordered mine. Be careful as they appear to be pushing CarPlay through App-Connect but when you look on the App-Connect website (http://volkswagen-carnet.com/int/en/sta ... pp-connect) in detail it appears they are only really supporting mirrorlink for a few phones still.Drew1990 wrote:Hi Penarth,Penarth Blues wrote:Once they introduce Carplay for the iPhone later this year (£100 option it seems - I went into the main dealer today and had a long chat with their Tech guy. Did you order yours with the Carplay option or is it something you can buy/add to the car after its been built?
Just that I'm considering adding it to the order...I quite like the sound of being able to mirror-link my iPhone to the interface.
Cheers
I was told the 5 door models take longer in general by the sales guy, as they're built in South Africa as opposed to Spain....not sure if that's the case with yoursAndy4791 wrote:Its 5 door, still preliminary build week of 29. That'll mean delivery around second week august I reckon, if so they can keep it till new reg letter comes out.
Sounds like it might be best holding back then for a while, I wouldn't like to waste my money on it if the functions are limited.Penarth Blues wrote:Carplay wasn't an option when I ordered mine. As I understand it you will be able to retrofit CarPlay to the GTI Composition Media but don't hold me to it. I'd wait and save your money until they DO actually agree something with Apple. VW have a history of not delivering connectivity with Apple.
If you follow the link I put above then it shows you that it should work with the Composition Media unit on its own - as it's designed to do this. I guess it will hit Sat Nav sales but chances are if you could afford a Sat Nav you'd have one anyway. It's all very odd anyway. You'd almost think they were deliberately making things obscure to encourage people to buy things that don't work yet...Drew1990 wrote:Sounds like it might be best holding back then for a while, I wouldn't like to waste my money on it if the functions are limited.Penarth Blues wrote:Carplay wasn't an option when I ordered mine. It's not very clear at all what you need for it to work, I mean from what I've read it sounds like you also need to buy the discover navigation system option?
I thought the whole idea of the mirrorlink is so you can use apple maps as an alternative sat nav, so why would you need to order the discover option pack..
Yeah just had a read of that, I see what you mean but it doesnt sound very convincing as I read this in the VW Carnet brochure, which was issued on april 2015;Penarth Blues wrote:If you follow the link I put above then it shows you that it should work with the Composition Media unit on its own - as it's designed to do this. As I understand it, Car-Net is different from App-Connect. Car-Net is designed as a subscription service which will keep you informed of things to do, etc around by where you are driving, as well as turning on the heated seats, etc in your e-vehicle while you are at home or work. Sounds like a pile of poo to me, desperately trying to build an ongoing income stream from the car.Drew1990 wrote:Yeah just had a read of that, I see what you mean but it doesnt sound very convincing as I read this in the VW Carnet brochure, which was issued on april 2015;Penarth Blues wrote:If you follow the link I put above then it shows you that it should work with the Composition Media unit on its own - as it's designed to do this. The mobile online services (Car-Net) can only be used with the optional “Discover Media” and
“Discover Pro” features. You also need a mobile terminal device (e.g. a smartphone) capable
of operating as a mobile WLAN hotspot. Alternatively with the “Business” mobile interface
option, a mobile phone with a remote SIM access profile (rSAP) or a SIM card with a phone
and data option can be used.

I have a couple of quick questions if anyone knows!
Has anyone seen/found a picture or spec'd the optional 'Serron' alloy wheels?
Is the rear view camera built into the VW badge, e.g. where the mechanism pops up/down like in the Golf, or is it a physical camera attached to the bumper in the number plate recess?
Thanks!
