thats p*** poor really, based on average mileage of 12k a year youre going to have to top up near on 12 litres of oil.

on a brand new car thats not acceptable in my eyes.

Yup - your right rover220, the only positives are that the dealer is supplying the oil FOC, but in my book it still isn't good enough, I hate to think what it is doing to the engine long term.

Still waiting for call from dealer, the weeks just fly by with no news, last I heard is that there was a parts shortage, which is potentially feasible.

My car is booked in for a service on Friday. And just had a call from the service guy saying that the fix for the oil consumption will be done at the same time! :)

Will do. They have been testing it on the Skoda for the last couple of weeks.

I believe my Polo will be the first with this fix :)

In the Netherlands they are still swaping out new engines, nothing about a fix is known here.

Using Oil!

Post by stuart.cameron »

Picked my car up this morning but no oil fix as the parts are at short supply again :( They are expected to arrive next Friday I have been told. The fix is a 'Vented Crank Case'? Not sure what it is/or does and neither did the service guy....

Mmmm - makes me think, why did they tell you the fix would be done when they did not have the part on site!

So once again means you have to take it back when it could have been done there and then.

As ever, keep us updated Stu on developments!

CTHG engine is out for the 1.4TSI engine. Get that in and should fixed your problem for good.

Correct, heared today that the ,,fix'' also has arrived here. Car from my mate is going for the fix next week!

Something with a new crankcase venting system indeed.
