UPDATE:

Painful news. I removed the covers from the car to find the lacquer has all pickled, so the bonnet and two front wings are shot

The day then gets worse to find that all the creases in the cling film have also sunk into the paint

Full respray here we come...anybody know a good bodyshop in dorset?

That is paintful. At least the leather looks awesome!

I'll get a quote from the garage that did my bumpers for a full respray if you want?

Here is a pic of the damage. All the light areas arent clouds - thats distortion to the paint under the lacquer!!

Its going to have a shark fitted, but none of this will be done now until the car is fully resprayed - there would literally be no point!

I have chosen to get it smoothed just like this picture, as it just makes it look that little more modern, and in my opinion, even more beautiful than it is already!

Its exciting times ahead for sure!!

That sucks about having to have a respray!

However, the smooth bumpers will look nice 8)

UPDATE:

Ordered two brand new GTI Xenon Discharge Headlamps today. Also ordered two new indicators, the cubby box under the radio, and a selection of nuts, screws and bolts to replace some that arent up to scratch

I have received my new 6000k D2S HID bulbs and new LED sidelights so everything is beginning to fall into place now, which is kinda nice.

Next on the list is the respray, which is happening in less than a month - with full smoothing!!

I would never ever have a car thats not red :P Plus flash red is amazing! Totally love it lol

I was tempted by white, but I want to keep this as original as poss (minus smoothing) and that includes the red :)
