not that simple. u know when u take the led out u got 4 small prong things in the casing. 2 on left 2 on right.

well one of the ones has snapped of i assume as its not there, and its the side where u put the led in and the metal bit should connect onto the led from the casing but as its not there it cant and on the normal bulbs the little connection wire bits are on opposite sides to the led ones.

i think i sorted that problem but now i given myself a bigger problem. i had another bulb with a dodgy connection and so i did the same witht he soldier on that one but now i think its short circuited it. all the lights went out.the main and full beam work but not the side lights, the angel eyes. i went through all the fuses and checked them and found one damaged one so changed that hoping it would sort eveerything but they still dont work..... any ideas?

If all sidelights have gone off it sounds like a fuse, disconnect the led’s power supply on the headlight where you think there’s a short circuit, then check every single fuse even the ones that don’t look like lights as some are connected. Then hopefully change blown fuse and one sidelight should come on. Then remove the led’s you have modified and reconnect the led’s power supply, if they work try your modified led’s one at a time to see if any are causing the problem. Also try moving the wires around the led’s power connector ever so slightly mine go off occasionally and that sorts it, Hope this helps

i think wat u said is wat ive done but wat i might do is remove the 2 led's i modified and see if i can get the rest working again and if i can im gonna disconnect the passenger side light unit and remove the leds on the driver side apart from the 2 i modified that way i can hopefully sort it out without buggering everything up again.....

main question tho is can u blow the leds? i cant see i would of blown all the leds tho

I don’t think you have blown the led's with voltage, however you could have blown them by making a short circuit with the solder. Have you tried removing the ones you modified?

obviously my last post didnt work.

i figured out the problem. it was the fuse on the actual angel eyes themselves. the only one i didnt check

only problem now is i removed the 2 bulbs causing the problem as i dont know which one it is. gonna get my godfather to have a look today see if he can figure out why theyre short circuiting.

the fuse in the angel eyes is a 15 amp, would it matter if i put a 20 amp fuse in it or should i stick to 15?

I think you will be better off sticking with the 15 amp fuse, that way if any problems reoccur the fuse will blow and you won’t melt your led’s or wiring. Where a bout is the fuse I have never seen one in my headlights. Also the polo is off the road at the moment I’m driving a 306 until I can find some cheap spares to repair the polo, if anyone has got mk5 drivers side hub carrier please let me know

Right, I didn’t use the wiring loom with the fuse and black box as it caused problems for me. Have you tried connecting the headlights directly to the cars headlight connector that’s how mine are running?

cant say i know wat u mean so im gonna say no to that. im having continous problems with these lights now.... now some more led's have gone out and the river side dipped beam bulb has stopped working.... hopefully the connection is just loose.

looks like i'll be spending more times on these lights again.

Your drivers side main beam may just be the bulb have you tries a new one? I had my angels connected straight onto the car without the black wire, box and fuse that connects to the battery, and mine worked fine without the wire.

i assume when u say the main u mean the full? if so i havnt tried it yet.... most the leds dont work on the driver side and the dipped beam, the hid, is now not working. if i dont get a chance to play with it tomorrow, well today, i'll have a look at it when i get back next weekemd as im of to great yarmouth today (wednesday) staying at my aunties hotel for a couple of night then going to centre parcs on friday untill next friday.

and when i get enough money saved up i can get the paint work sorted.

Finally the polo is repaired after my mishap on the ice a few months ago, I’m so glad its back I had a 306 for a while and it was pants. So here she is with some new rims, I will get some better pics up when I clean the car at weekend.
