2011 Plans
- Respray Front Bumper, Rear Bumper, and Bonnet
- Buy New sidelights and foggies (to make the front end look brand new)
- Finally do my boot build!!
- Buy little bits that need replacing. eg. Rear N/S Tweeter is creased, Drivers side door switch is badly warn.
- Cambelt!
- Full detail
- New exhaust as my current one has been smooshed.
09.01.2011 - GTI's Birthday
...well I say Birthday, it's really the date of it's registration. 09.01.01, which means he's 10 years old!
So I decided to buy a few little presents from VW
Cap x2- The original ones came off when the car was lowered. I think they ended up getting a screw drivers straight thru them
so new ones were needed.
New Service Book, the other ones are full so new one needed.
And got Jack to stamp it for me
Seat Rail Covers - The ones on the outer sides of the car have always been missing (well since before Jack originally brought it)
So new ones were needed.
A mix up ment the inner ones were ordered originally, but it doesnt matter, im sure theyll come in useful at some point.
Also Got some new Wipers
Was also Jacks birthday on the same day so amongst other things I got him this;
We spent the weekend Detailing the G40
once I was done with the interior, i jumped in GTI and did a bit of swabbing
There were crumbs in there I've never been able to get out, but finally managed to flick them out. woop!
Went out with Jack and at 10 to 12 that night, Just as I pulled up outside Jacks House this happened...
110k in 10 years
I have a few more bits i'm waiting for from VW should hopefully be sometime next week. its annoying cose theyre the bits i mainly wanted.

I think you should ask Jack very kindly on behalf of myself to see if he can get another one of those LED Pens

.
Love all the attention to detail it's quite refreshing. Can't wait till spring so i can give my car a good weekends worth of cleaning.

Nice Update Verity
110K is a nice milestone to reach, long live the GTI's
Mine is 1999 (V) GTI but was registered on Jan 2000 so mine is 11 now, she's still going strong though.

good to hear!!
i have a lot of faith in VWs
i took my old SE to a garage when i was selling it (the buyers paid for the check over)
she was a W soo 2000, and he said if it was a KA or a micra, or (something else) then it would be in peices, but VWs just keep going
I think ill get lots more miles outta the GTI
(ive so now jinxed myself. just wait. my next post will be. 'well my engine blew up, and then the whole thing fell apart around me'

)
cheers for the comment

More Bits and Bobs!
Picked up some more bits in the weekend...
Window Switch Case and the drivers window button.
the button wasnt overly needed but brought just in case..........tho when trying to get the passenger widnow button out of the old case the pins got bent, so i was lucky really to have a spare
Looks sooo much better.
Am just waiting for my rear N/S handle to arriver.
the tweeter cover was broken back when we did the sound instal.
Ive got the handle, but am waiting for the attual tweeter and cover.....tho if u look at the orginal it seems to come in one piece.
so ive got Jack checking that out for me as its not quite right.
Also got my toe eye cover on.
much better

Sorry about the dirtiness

Liking the tow eye cover too

alexperkins wrote:Its not due to any of that. Its due to the secondary washer tank located in the wing for the headlight washers. It has a breather opening at the top back end of it, which is above the indicator on the wing - you need to put a hose onto it so it drains lower into the arch rather than going down the wing into the light.
Never knew that - explains something that was puzzling me for a while

I looked at that and thought where in the world does that go.......
Don't worry I've only replied after finding out

- have you got a part number for that? I need to order some bits and I'll add it to the list

Thank you very much for the comment guys
glad you like
Alexperkins - thank you!
6n2 GTI 00 - thank you, it's makes such a big difference changing all those little bits makes the whole door card feel brand new
BobbyG -
'6N2959954948Z TRIM FOR SWITCH £11.24'
(not including VAT)
but i got it at cost price at £10.58.
I picked it up from the dealers. It's about 15mins drive from the boyfriends
BIG RHYS -Cheers

I don't think they cost to much
Its anice little thing just to tidy things up a bit
bstardchild - unfortunatly I dont have an invoice print out for it. i took it off today for you, and had a look on the inside expecting to find a part number printed on it but all i got was a VW logo and
'RAY
PP TD20'
:S
I think it was off a brand new golf or polo.
sorry i cant be more help!

Boo
Was cleaning my rear window today and spotted the above on my spoiler
It's quite literally appeared over night...or at least the past three
Im not using my rear washer jet so have been cleaning the window by hand and would have seen it sooner.
Hows that happened? Tis a tad random

My spoiler is the same. One of the many little imperfections I plan to have removed this year.
