If only it was that simple! This is a completely seperate unit to the fog lights. Once the LED's are fitted, the DRL's are then recoded so the headlights will no longer be used as the DRL's.daydotz wrote:I thought it was ment to be a simple swap Of the panel around the fog lights
I can't say I'm surprised at the costs though
The after market headlights just alter the side light behaviour to light LEDs I'm not sure it will work on the polo you may just end up having headlights on all the time as well as LEDs

Re: VW Offering LED DRL Retrofit
All the correspondence i've seen says these are not available for the GTi also!fletcherk wrote:is there any news on GTI fitment?
As all the sites I have found, say not applicable to GTI
Re: VW Offering LED DRL Retrofit
It will be interesting to see if the headlamp DRL's can actually be re encoded to deactivate them after fitment of LED's. I've been assured by VW that on the latest models of the Polo it is not possible to turn them off at all.
Re: VW Offering LED DRL Retrofit
You would be correct in stating that you cannot turn the DRL's off the Polo. However, the actual output of the DRL is irrelevant. Instead of the output being through the dipped headlamps, it will be through the new LED lamps.
Re: VW Offering LED DRL Retrofit
Also, cheapest quote i've had for these fitting is £464.
Re: VW Offering LED DRL Retrofit
Has anyone got these fitted yet or seen any pictures of them fitted?

Re: VW Offering LED DRL Retrofit
Now they look like a tacky retrofit!
Pretty sure they're not the OEM units, they look like the riceboy version from Halfrauds
Re: VW Offering LED DRL Retrofit
I thought someone would by now have come up with a simple solution to the issue of turning off the DRL headlamps, e.g. a simple plug in resistor or something to fool the ecu into thinking the DRL bulbs are lit when in fact they are not.AJ_7 wrote:You would be correct in stating that you cannot turn the DRL's off the Polo. Re: VW Offering LED DRL Retrofit
I wonder if these DRL's will come as standard on later 6r??

Re: VW Offering LED DRL Retrofit
Highly unlikely. Those shown above are the OEM factory option you can have fitted for about £500...Boyracer_2011 wrote:I wonder if these DRL's will come as standard on later 6r??
