thanks for the reply smurftech, interestingly i've just had a call from my dealer, swindon (inchape) and my car is due for a recall, not too sure on the criteria for this mines an August 2014 plate in black 3 door, the only detail they can give me is something around the ECU and a bit of a shaky clutch, now this might explain why even coasting on a 40 mile (mainly flat journey in 2cyl mode more often than not) i can only get 50 odd max.
So guys, it might worth a call to your dealership (unless you've had one already) they are going to give me a consultation before and after to explain the changes etc etc. they mentioned 'engine optimisation' on the phone so i hope i haven't got a few more horses than i should of and they are being taken away, we'll see what happens and i will update this thread (going in next friday)
interested to know if anyone else gets a phone call.

Re: 2014 spec. BlueGT finally here :)
Would anyone with a 2014 Polo BlueGt please have a look at their VIN number and check the 7th and 8th digits. Mine are 6R. Should this not be 6C for the latest version ??
Thanks
Thanks

I can confirm my 2014 BGT is also 6R at 7th and 8th characters along the VIN - but no idea if it should be 6C or not.Rik762 wrote:Would anyone with a 2014 Polo BlueGt please have a look at their VIN number and check the 7th and 8th digits. 6R is the chassis code isn't it, and the 6C is still rolling on a 6R chassis so I'm guessing that's why?

Very good thinking Mr Tooks. That makes a lot of sense.

6C is the faceliftet 6R. The letter has changed due to all the electrics has been upgraded.Tooks wrote:6R is the chassis code isn't it, and the 6C is still rolling on a 6R chassis so I'm guessing that's why?

I know that, I was just suggesting an idea as to why the VIN Numbers still state 6R rather than 6C, if indeed the two examples mentioned above are typical.Mart!n-GTI-DK wrote:6C is the faceliftet 6R. Does anybody know when VIN numbers are stamped into the shells? If it's shortly after they've been pressed and welded, then I can well imagine there being a few shells in the line that get all the 6C bits fitted. I can't imagine they turn the production of shells off so precisely for a mid cycle facelift.
