Really that fast ? I was only contacted last Friday saying my car is on the ship. Wonder if myn for some reason took longer to get manufactured and so it isn’t yet at the port. However they did sent me a registration document for the 12/12/2023 so I wonder if they know something I don’t ?

Dipende anche dagli optional montati sulla macchina. Ad esempio mi hanno detto in wv che l'angolo cieco puo' far allungare i tempi consegna.

It also depends on the options mounted on the machine. For example, they told me in WV that the blind spot can make delivery times longer.

Hi, new member of the forum here.
I got my GTi last week. It arrived within 2 weeks from pre-registered stock, so I guess they aren’t selling well here in the UK.
I could only have black or white though.

Pete

Continental vs Michelin tyres
My new Gti came with continental tyres fitted and I was wondering what the option was about them, are they OK for the Gti or are the newer pilot sport 5’s better

Assume you mean opinion rather than option?

I’m not aware of anyone on the forum that has Michelin PS5 tyres a GTI - facelift or pre-facelift. I currently have the previous version fitted to my pre-facelift GTI+ (the PS4) and IMHO they’re much better than the Bridgestones that VW fitted from the factory. I had Continental Sport Contact 3 (so not the latest version) tyres on my 2016 previous generation Polo GTI that replaced the factory Bridgestones that VW fitted to that car. IMHO the Continentals were better than the Bridgestones. In both instances, a change of alloys gave me a reason / excuse to replace the Bridgestones with something that IMHO was better.

I’m sure Continentals will be fine on your car; whether or not they’re better than the Michelin PS5 I have no idea. VW will fit whatever tyres they get the best deal with at the time from the tyre suppliers they use, so price will be the determining factor as opposed to the best tyre a specific model of car.

There are probably tyre reviews on YouTube of both the Continentals fitted to your car and the Michelin PS5, although probably not on a Polo GTI. Bear in mind someone getting paid to drive a car around a track or on a drag strip comparing different brands of tyres isn’t quite the same as living day to day with a set of tyres on your own car. There’ll also be customer reviews on www.tyrereviews.com, although I don’t know how genuine those reviews are.

I have PS5’s on the rear axle and no issues.

Although a little old now, this youtuber specialises in tyre reviews:

He does also have a PS5 review elsewhere I believe,

My car (2023 Polo Gti on 17" wheels) came from VW with PS5's on it. If you click through the configurator and select wheel and tyre info it shows the PS5 as the only option (I know, they can change this as often as they like and the VW site is full of errors).

Tyres are subjective and very few people ever drive tyre brands back to back, often swapping from a worn out end of life tyre to a brand new unscrubbed tyre etc.

That’s interesting - VW actually fitting performance tyres to the GTI with 17” alloys. They used to fit Michelin Primacy 3 tyres (which IMHO are a touring tyre) to the pre-facelift GTI on 17” alloys.

Sorry to read about your assist problems - I didn't realise Polos had these problems (I knew Golf Mk8s did). I presume you have the Driver's Assistance Pack?

Edit. I've just spotted a "Travel Assist" where people are having problems. Is travel assist part of the Driver's Assistance Pack extra, or it it a standard feature.
Edit 2!! It seems Travel Assist is standard and not part of the Driver's Assistance Pack.

Haha its standard on the new model i think, Its driving me mad now , again i have been out on a short trip just a few miles and counted 10 times the ping went off, I did have a Mk8 R and i got rid of that because i hated the interior and its constant faults, I think the polo may follow soon
