And there is a way to stop the car being opened keylessly for when it is parked up. This is to prevent thieves using clever tech to steal your car. I have however forgotten how you activate this mode.( I do not really need it where I live) I also note that on later cars the key plipper de activates if stationary for a certain time. I hope these could now be supplied as something to purchase or even free(

Yes, Press lovk key on fob, within 5 seconds press keyless lock pad on door handle.
Keyless entry is now disabled until next time the car is locked.
Repeat steps above.

With mine I only need to hold my finger over the sensor on the door handle for 5 seconds, no need to press keyfob.

The โofficialโ VW method of how to temporarily disable keyless entry - from the ownerโs manual;
Temporarily deactivating Keyless Access
Keyless Access can be deactivated temporarily as described below so that the vehicle cannot be unlocked and started due to misuse by unauthorised third parties.
Lock the vehicle with the โlockโ button in the vehicle key.
In addition, touch the sensor on the outside of the door handle once within five secondsโ. Do not reach into the door handle.
Keyless Access is now temporarily deactivated.
Check deactivation by waiting for at least ten seconds and then pull the door handle again. It should not be possible to open the door.
When the vehicle is next unlocked, it can be unlocked only using the vehicle key. The keyless locking and starting system Keyless Access is reactivated the next time the vehicle is unlocked.

Interesting, I'll have to try that next time.

Today I visited my neighbours a little east, to see what the recent remap does. See attachments. The performance monitor showed 200 KwScreenshot_20191110-091056.jpgScreenshot_20191110-091154.jpg
You had yours remapped?
Give us more details/ short review please

Yes it was remapped by a VAG specialised firm here in The Netherlands. Since a short period of time the Bosch ECU is flashable. Remapping via the OBD port is not possible, so the ECU itself must be handled. They made several test rides and adapted the ecu afterwards. I guess it was still more or less in the developing stage.
The results were 272 pk, 440 Nm. The performance monitor shows 200 at max power. I am very satisfied with the results, power over a much wider range. What I like is that the 2 cycle characteristic of this engine is still in place; when not much is asked, you can drive in a relaxed way. But when you ask for power, it's there instantly. I think the best indication for the effect of the remap is the substantial gain in 100 -200 time; from over 20 seconds to 14.5 seconds.
I also had the DSG remapped, which is great; shifting later in D and sooner in S. Shorter shifting times and more clutch pressure.
I also had the start stop system permanently deactivated.
Consumption hasn't changed I guesss.

Yes get a Ghost 2 immobiliser installed, all you need to do is set a combination of 4 to 20 buttons to press prior to starting the car. If thieves steal your keys, intercept the keyless signal or gain entry and try using the OBD port to start the car it wont work. It will not start until you input the combination which can be as complicated or a simple as you like. Similar to the older days when a cut off switch was installed in a hidden location on a car this can and is installed in a secret location which can be anywhere on your car as it communicates to the cars CAN system. Not a cheap system but also not exactly a mega expensive system for peace of mind just ยฃ399. It is something that you do when in the car not outside so doesn't stop you from gaining entry in the rain/snow any quicker than it does now. It also doesn't take the convenience of being able to just touch the door handle to open the car like it would if you disable it having to rummage through a bag or a coat pocket just have the key on you as normal.
Everyones personal and financial choice i suppose but i like my cars to be free of clutter (so steering lock out the question), be original as they can be (so don't want any additional key fob for alarm), wheel clamp would be over the top so Ghost is the answer for me as nobody will know its installed or where its located. It has a service mode for when it goes into the garage for service, repair, MOT or tyre replacement so they can start it without the code and not knowing it even has one but that mode with exit once driven over 30mph so if they take your car for a spin they won't be able to restart it meaning you know they have been playing in it. Or you can change the code to a easy one before taking it in and telling the service manager the code and when you get it back change it back to your code so it's always protected.
Had one on a previous car and looking for a install centre who can do the Polo as i know a few changes have been made so needs a bit of adjustment to get it to work but Autowatch confident it will work and seen a few centres who have done it but just not local to me.

This morning I learned 2 things about my GTi+. The first is that it is the fastest warming up ICE car I have owned on cold mornings I have ever owned (I say ICE as we also have an i3 which cheats by pre-heating itself before you even go near it!). It was -2.5c when I left for work today, I started the car and switched everything on (blowers, heated seat\rear window\mirror etc), got out and pulled the windscreen cover off (everyone should use one of these in the winter as they not only stop your windscreen freezing over on the outside but stop them fogging up inside as well), scrapped the frost off the side windows and got in, there was already noticeably warm air blowing out of the vents (my previous 2016 Leon 1.8tsi was quick but not this quick!), so that was a pleasant surprise for sure.
Second thing, I have the performance monitor on the touch screen most of the time and the oil temp never shows the min it will display (50c) until a good few mins after the coolant temp has reached normal (90c) but this morning it was displaying the oil temp way before the coolant temp hit 90c (only 3 LEDs on), I suspect due to the car directing most of the coolant to the heater core to warm me up!
