Cheers for the comments, yeah its coming along nicely now. Its odd how you look at how much you've spent on it and it makes you go

, its only when you've got the car lowered do you really see where the moneys gone
Can't wait to get the rust sorted, then it'll look presentable

Well me and Alex (Alex Perkins) had a crack at sorting a few little niggles with the car, we got a lot done in the time and weather conditions. Quite chuffed really as its in a reasonable state for sunday (bristol meet). This is the list of tasks we did:
Fitted Remote Central Locking
Took door off, ground back rust to bare metal, filled, primered and sprayed (heat gun had to be used in a few cases due to time! Its not a permanent job but it'll do)
Refitted rust free door

Cleaned the throttle body out
Vag-com'ed it - no issues other than too much oxygen (BMC CDA) and alligned thottle body
Fixed rear washer, didn't used to spray from the rear
Found out why the boot light doesn't work, next on list to be sorted.
I've managed to squeeze £50 out of my parents so I can buy the 16v fog lights, so its not far off looking like a german Mk4 GTi.
Needs a few bits spraying (bumpers, doors, front grill and GTI splitter).

Yeah it was great to sort a lot of things out at once, spent from sat night to monday night at Alex's which allowed us *well, Alex... LOL* to do those bits. The car has developed a squeek in the dash near the lower section so when i've got some of it out to fit the fogs hopefully I can tighten everything up down there to stop it (the two laminate floor wedges aren't the most attractive

)
Really looking forward to sunday also, i've washed down the car this evening so its ready for tomorrows work. I've also had enough time to do the first polish on the RXii's (autosol to remove the white specs of corrosion) then i'll give them a proper go with the luster pad tomorrow. Got to three step the car, back to black the plastics, maybe give it a hoover out inside and autoglym glass care the windows. Shouldn't be too much hassle, the three step is a faff though! Especially if it looks like its going to rain! lol, well at least the beading will be worth it!
Does anyone have any idea's what to use as tyre blackener for the time being? I've got no tyre blackener, unless someone can suggest a halfords product I can pick up tomorrow?

See if they have turtle wax black in a flash trim wax, that stuff is good for tyres and trims.
In the long run try getting some chemical guys trim gel, that's awesome, plus you don't have to wipe off on trim. Just apply and walk away!

Oh, and decided to turn the car into a UK Spec 6n GTi. Hopefully next year when i'm 19, going to have to order a few bits in from germany (leather steering wheel, belts, leather handbrake (unless Tim can help me out tomorrow

etc).

Sucks about the handbrake! It could've been a great edition to your car
