Happens on alot of the spoilers. No idea what the cause is. It could be down to too little primer on the ABS plastic, and the cellulose paint has reacted over time.

No cellulose primer or paint to be found on these cars or any cars after 1985 as it's voc non compliant.

The cause is trapped moisture beneath primer and releases over time. Sand down and skim over with high build primmer or just take to body shop buddy...

Either moisture or solvent trap causing it to raise, high temperature will cause it....
Or extreme cold...

What's High Build Primer?
This may seem really blonde but; do you guys redone if you used more primer it wouldn't happen again?
I mean like when I go to get it resprayed do I want to tell them to do it extra thick? Or just use the high build primer
Or is it something really not to worry about, I guess it's taken 10 years for it to appear in the first place which is pretty long.

Na you don't need to tell them buddy lol. Wen u repair the spoiler or whoever does you need to take the paint all the way back to the plastic so they will build up what you or what's been taken off...

Take it to a body shop it will cost less than 100 easy....
Moisture leak or solvent trap/pop can appear on every surface mate.
Easy fix...

It's deff getting sprayed professionally!
Getting my front and rear bumpers, bonnet, and petrol cap flap resprayed sometime this year (hopefully)
I'll just have to add it to the list.... I'll end up having to give him a full Respray before I know it

might as well buy another one rather than respray given its £3000 for a good job.

It's a fair point but I have to say my Gti holds a hellova lot of sentimental value, and at the end of the day it's a 10 year old car there's gonna be stone chips here and there on any GTI

Totally agree I spent thousands on the GTI (almost 6k on top of the car price!) on parts mods etc and the respray and it was worth every penny

Ouch! Your petrol is expensive up north. Vpower down here is currently at 133.9

I agree. My polo is my 3rd child. I love all my kids equally ( don't tell the mrs )

This is beyond a perfect statement for a gti owner lol, couldn't agree more but 137.9 pfft, that would make me cry at the pump....

My car has no stonechips atm at the front, all resprayed helped tho, side strips and rear bumper to be painted next for me then it will be perfect...

Gti is a sense of pride no other car can match for the money.

You can't complain about fuel. You know petrol is gonna keep rising just like the sun is gonna rise.

I feel sorry for my mates who own a R8 v8, F430 and my other mate with a corsa (dam chav)!!!
