Freezing Door Locks

Hi there,

I've had this trouble before, but it's becoming a real pain now. When it gets frosty for a decent spell, my FRONT door locks freeze up. I have the central locking operated by the alarm and the rear doors and tailgate open no problem.

The fronts however are solid and the handle doesn't feel as if it's moving anything. The interior latch doesn't work either. Sometimes the exterior handle will open the door, but upon arrival after short journeys, the interior handle doesn't release the door.

I've sprayed the WD-40 stuff into the lock barrels and onto the latches themselves, but with little improvement.

Anyone encountered the same problem? Any cures or suggestions?

Cheers,

Garry.

Heres a cheap mod.

SMASH YOUR WINDOW then enjoy admiring glances outside McDonalds as you leap into your car in a dukes of hazard stylee!

Or alternatively try checing the vacuum line to the front actuators and maybe use some damp start in your lock mechanism to remove any damp!

Nice one!......

.......however, Maybe I should point out that using the key (once the barrels have been defrosted) makes no difference. The button pops up, but no release function. Bugger!

Cheers for the suggestion. I'll have a look at the connections anyway.

i just boil the kettle and chuck a glass of boiling water at the lock. seems to do the trick.
