Central Locking

This may be a silly question to ask but here goes............
My central locking recently stopped working and i think it's the pump in the boot. Anyway I've taken the pump out and the part no. is 1HO962257D. My problem is, on ebay people are selling central locking pumps but the slightly different part no's e.g. 1HO962257J. My question is will any of thes fit my MK4 Polo and does the last letter of the part make any difference when looking for replacement parts. I don't want to pay £200 for the same part from VW.

I just purchased a Polo and had the same problem as mine was the same number as yours. My m8 has a Mk3 Golf and i tried his 1 on mine and it worked fine. It had the same model number except it had a G at the end.

So i went to a scrap yard and bought 1 off a Golf but this one had a J at the end. I tried it and this one worked fine ever since. So i would say that it will work fine as i have the J one in my Polo

Cheers for that, I may buy one from the net or have a look in the local scrap yard/breakers. :D

I bought a Central Locking Pump from e-bay and it works like a treat. All I need now is some money so that I can buy a new grille (someone nicked mine a few weeks ago)

If anyones interested in a new phone or x-box then have a look at the links below (my girlfriends selling some stuff on e-bay to try and raise the money for me). :P

Hi, i have a problem with my central locking and it only locks on one door? The first day i bought the car it worked fine but then it stopped working and now i always have to lock it from the passenger side? i was wondering if this was anything to do with the central locking pump and if so where abouts in the boot is it located?

It's probably not the pump, but to help you find it:

Open the boot, look to the right. It's behind that carpet flap that can hold a first aid kit. Think of it as being below and behind the rear light, it's all the way down.
