erm..driving lights?

Not sure where this belongs so..its here..
Anyway, i have a grill with "driving lights" does that mean i can have them on with my normal dipped beam at night or do i have to have them on with full beam as the words driving lights say i can just drive about with em on all the time to me.
I was gunna nip to a police station to ask but i thought some of you guys may have more sense.

Like the MKII Coupe S ones or rectangular as in aftermarket?
Coupe S ones are basically spots mounter in the grill and only provide long distance illumination
Some aftermarket ones were adjustable so they could be dipped enough to come on with dipped beam but they are fundamentally long range "driving lights" so should be wired in with main beam not dip or dip and main
Make sense?

I'd agree with bstardchild on this one, they'd be handy with main beam but if you have them on all the time you'll just end up falling in with the gaggles of novas/saxos/fiestas etc that have their fog or "driving" lights on all the time and cause me grief

I didnt want them on all the time just would be nice to be able to use them when anything more than candle power was needed.

So how about wiring them up independently of the main lights and using as and when you feel you need them?
Candle power... reminds me of when I used to have my Mini, complete with Lucas sealed-beam headlights - they were fun

not more than a few hours ago i saw a van trotting about with a very neat invention on it ---- driving lamps (rally style ones!) ... with angel eyes!
looked far better than the usual in-unit sidelight types
so you could try and make some for yours ( a couple cold cathode flexible flourescents should do it
) that are on with the dips, and it switches to full 4-way headlight operation on full beam.
