hey.
my dipped beams on both lights have stopped working, but sidelights and main beam works fine. I've checke the fuses and they are all fine and dandy.

any suggestions?

I'm also going to be selling my Polo soon, probably for about £250. Any takers?

both bulbs blown? it'd be a bit of a co-incidence but might be worth trying some bulbs that you know work.

Possibly a faulty relay?

Which Relay would it be?

There aren't any relays for the headlights as standard - all the power goes through the switches which is why people fit aftermarket relays.

I would imagine a faulty switch is to blame. It'll be in the indicator stalk if so!!

Yeah - but the indicator stalk is what you use to change between main and dipped - and you say main is fine - so I'm guessing that's where the problem is.

Most the switches on the Mk3 are crude at best - very susceptical to corrosion and just crap basically. Most problems are easily repaired tho.

My wiper stalk doesn't work properly at the moment. It needs a very gentle pull to get the washers to work. Pull too hard and it does nothing!!

*I have a spare tho - so it's all ok!! :D

Don't know what mk3 light switches are like, but the switch in my mk2 actually melted a while ago, seemingly at random, and the guy at the VW dealership said it wasn't uncommon. Pretty dodgy stuff, I'd take a look at it..

You're not running 100W bulbs are you??

That doesn't surprise me either way - why they didn't use relays in the first place I don't know!!
