I am thinking about getting some P slott wheels for my car. Can anyone offer me some advice on how much I should be looking to pay for these? Also exactly how rare are these wheels

You can probably pick them up cheap enough unpolished, probably round the £40 mark, and thats not to say they will come with hubcaps for that price! There are maent to be 3 versions: 13" (fitted to Golf Mark1, though can't say I've actually come across these), 14" fitted to Golf Mark2s and I think Sciroccos and the rarest is going to be the 15" versions.
Some sets have rare hubcaps (they have Pirelli stamped into them), while most just seem to have a standard flat hubcap.
Theres also the spacing between the P's on the wheels, that can dtermine rarity, I think 10mm spacing between the P's is meant to be more common than the 7mm.
Most of this is stuff I've picked up as I've gone along, so I can't guarantee how accurate it all is, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong...

No, P-slots don't come in 13in.
Two variants of 14in availible:
Genuine Pirelli P's (from a mk1 Golf) are 14in with the P's slightly closer together (I think you're right with 7mm gap). These are the ones that have 'Pirelli' on the centre cap.
Mk2 Golf P-slots (not Pirelli) have a bigger gap (again, 10mm sounds about right) and have a plain centre cap.
Then there are 15in Pirelli wheels. As far as I'm a aware there are only two different sizes, of which both are 15in, but they come in either 5.5in or 6in widths. There are 3 different offsets availible for 15's too.
Mk2 Golf P-slots will be the cheapest. I bought a set with centre caps for £40. Then the 14in Pirellis will be slightly more (maybe up to £100 depending on condition). 15's will set you back £200 or more (a full set of 6x15 will cost you a fortune)
Hope this helps.

see that second auction isn't for pirelli's, they are vw pslots.
Genuine Pirelli edition wheels, and 15in p-slots will say 'Pirelli' inbetween two of the stud holes. Mk2 Golf P-slots have the VW and Audi logo.

thanks for the info guys. I think I will settle for the 14inch VW version for around £40. The only problem I have know is finding a set in the South Wales area!!!!

i got mine off ebay, from a guy who lives in bridgend, £100 with unpolished centres. me and my dad spent some time polishing them up and this is the end result:
Ive now had the inside of the P's sprayed black and they are now ready for tyres! Just waiting for the weather to improve to put them on. Im very happy with the end result.

started with 80 grit sand paper, then went all the way to 2000 wet and dry, then used metal polish and a hard sponge then polished some more with a rag. Took absolutely ages! but well worth it.

I fried my brain trying to polish my P-Slots. Couldn't be arsed in the end and went anti-bling with matte black.

These weren't actually alloy wheels, they were 13" hub caps with the P-Slot pattern cut into them. There uber uber rare. Were fitted to mkI Polo's and mkI Golfs. I want a set for the Derby when I rock her on steelies.
