fitting lupo wipers

Just got around to fitting my new aero wipers (from vag parts), but having a slight problem with the drivers side one.
I've adjusted the drivers side wiper so that it doesn't hit the door, and now the wiper parks right at the bottom of the screen, just above the rubber strip.
However, when the wiper is at full 'wipe', the arm seems to be just touching the underside of the bonnet!
If I tighten down the nut that holds the wiper in place, the rubber strip (mentioned above) seems to act like a pivot when the wiper is parked. This lifts the centre of the blade off the screen a little, which results in an unwiped area in the bottom middle of the screen.
(I noticed that these new wiper arms don't have any internal splines, so I've had to tighten the nuts a little more to make sure they wont come loose.)
I'll post some pics to help explain as soon as the battery is charged...
Just wondered if anyone else with the retro-fitted wipers noticed the same problem? will the wipers adjust to the shape of the screen given time?

Not too sure -
I ended up using two offside wipers, but I've heard of people using the regular ones and:
A: Having no problems at all (?!)
or
B: Bending the bonnet upwards slightly to allow the wiper arm to fit. (?!!)
If the rubber strip on the bottom of the windshield gets in the way, consider modifying the arm to make it less thick. Not that I tried this, but still.

you're on the continent aren't you? I ordered 2 passenger side lupo gti wipers.
Bending the bonnet

I presume they mean adjusting the brackets to make it sit slightly higher?
I'm going to leave it as is for a little while. Might modify the arm later. Must be something to do with the curvature of the windscreen, as the passenger one is just fine.
cheers for the help,
mike

To get them to wipe all of the screen you need to take abit of material off the backside (where the spring is) you will get a slight rub on the plastic but its not that noticeable when you file off abit of metal. Other option is to bend slightly but don't bend too much as they will snap! Good luck! It’s had to describe how to do it but just have a play round. Sorry I carn't be of much more help

hehe yeah I noticed that the wipers dont lift up any more!
Right, tomorrow I will have a go at making that drivers one fit as it is a bit tight...
cheers for the help guys!
I was surprised how much had to come off the back wiper! the little end cap was a bugger but shortening it was easy enough with a cutting disc.
here's what my wiper used to look like, broken and nasty!
and the new one, much better!
and while i'm uploading pics, heres a nasty sight.. horrid salt!
and two pollen filters, can you tell which is the old one?!

These aero wipers sound like a bit of a pain in the arse to get on right

but the finished article looks soooooo much better, it's gotta be worth the hassle
As for the road salt... I clean my alloys every weekend, so a lot of the time have shiny clean wheels and tyres with mucky 'orrible paintwork

but its still a pain! Kind of unavoidable at this time of year though, roll on summer!

And I thought fitting the wipers would be a 10 min job!
I'll be pleased when they're done though.
my wheels get cleaned about every 3 weeks when i'm working away

A refurb can't be far away

Yeh my drivers side one is a tiny bit long and just goes onto the top of the door. it also rubs on the black plastic at the bottom very slightly, I'm going to take it off and bend or file the spring abit to stop it rubbing when i get the car back from dealers. Other than that there great.

Made my own adapters, works perfectly.
http://www.jcross.co.uk/design/ they are black now. They work so well, than no-one will ever notice my work.

Yeah I remember the thread from the MkV forum - do the adaptors therefore eliminate the problem that mikegti has got with his wiper arms catching on the bonnet? Sounds good if they do! And of course if they do, you might have a few customers...

Yeah, they work fine. They are the original arms, so there is no problem with catching the bonnet. You adjust the arms to sit lower, and they work really well.
I haven't looked at making them simpler to machine yet.
