Just browsing the net during work time and notice that the part numbers of some aftermarket brake disks are the same for polo Gti and a MK3 Golf Gti and some corrados. Does anyone know if this is correct and and if mk3 golf gti disk will fit.

I think i prefer the second ones. Not changing now, just when my current ones wear out.

Some tasty looking brakes there mate. I like the 2nd ones too.

I'm sure your right about the discs being the same as the MK3 GTi and the 'rado, the guy in GSF mentioned that when i got my Brembo's.

Also checked it out on the VW parts cd and they seem to be the same.

Kool I will when i get round to it then. Where you at no-rice the other night? there were 4 GTi's 2 black ones (one of them was tinted with leather seats ), 1 red and mine was the silver one.

mine was the standard gti with DVD power

I'll say hello at the next one im at then. Mine standard too apart from little mods, Aero wipers, de-locked, tt pedals, and my audio system. got lowering springs but insurance wont let me put them on. and i got a shortshifter too fit soon.

Hi Cyhliu, i've not fitted them as yet, still got my rear discs and new lines to get before i change everything. I will renew them all shortly and post some feedback.

Picked up my Zimmermann rear discs and Goodridge braided brake lines today. Still to get my Springs and shocks before i'll get everything fitted.

I bet neither of those funky discs stop any better than your standard ones. Grooved ones are designed to go through pads quicker, and drilled ones do nothing if you don't get air to them.

If you want decent brakes, look at getting some bigger ones. Golf G60/Corrado G60/Ibiza Cupra ones should fit, as should 305mm SEAT Sport Brembos.

Why would anyone design a disc to eat pads faster?. The gooves are designed to cool the discs and pads and help to get rid of water, dust and hot gases. While the drilled discs lower disc temperatures.

Obviously bigger discs are better, but not everyone wants to go down the route of getting new larger calipers carriers, and not only that 305mm Cupra R Brembos won't fit behind a 15" BBS wheel. So not only would you have to buy the bigger brakes, you'd need to spend money on larger wheels.

I actually agree with both your arguments, I see a valid point in what you have both said so I guess I'm neutral and thing that the best option is to hgave bigger, drilled and grooved brakes! Anyone else have any opinions?

I would love to have some Brembos but have been told that they won't fit, even under my 16"...apparently size does matter! ha ha ha!
