flamin wheels

ive just put my g40 brakes onto my gt and now the pad carrier catches on the inside of my bloody wheel! i put a spacer on but this means the wheel isnt on the hub only the bolts! im really annoyed.
has anyone had this problem?
i was thinking of getting some p-slots, will they catch?

get rid of the G40 carriers and use the original mk3 ones instead

thats my brakes using a 20mm wide disk, G40 calipers and GT carriers...

... your setup will look slightly different though

so i can use the original carriers with g40 calipers? what about pads, do i use the the pads for the mk3 or g40?

yes G40 calipers will work with GT carriers.

the G40 and GT pads are the same shape, but G40 pads are thinner, so you can either fit new G40 pads or use your old GT ones if they are worn down a few mm (but this is not recommended)

so the G40 pads are thinner but this will allow thicker brake discs? does this set-up improve the braking alot? :?:

the pads i have put onto my brakes are different. there is a longer thinner pad and a fatter pad? will these work on the mk3 carriers or can i use my original pads from my standard setup which were fairly new?

yeah what I meant was the backing plates are the same shape.....

... on some makes of pads tthere are two different shaped pads per set of 4 pads.

the one with the longer and narrower friction area goes on the side of the disk you can see

the one with the shorter and fatter friction area goes on the piston side of the disk.

big thanks to optima ive now sorted my brakes (well my front ones) but ive gotta do my rears now as my rear wheel cylinder pissed fluid everywhere! cheers mate
