Why I've been a bit quiet Recently

Background - been working on this project for a while - my house has an existing single garage attached to it but in time honoured fashion it refuses to accept a Senator or a Lotus without having to back the car in and bend the up and over door around the bonnet/bumper to shut it.

I can however fit the polo in it but then I have to move 2 cars from the drive to get it out

I applied for planning permission to extend it 5.7m by 3.0m and it was passed last year and started work on the garage intending to have it ready for winter - best laid plans and all that......

Well last Sunday I finally got the chippy round to finish my roof truss install and now on Thursday this week the roofer finished the felt and battening and made a start on the roof tiling - cutting the tiles by the valleys and using up the spare tiles from my last building project and the ones removed from the existing roof.

Friday the rest of the tiles were delivered - Ar*e they were the wrong colour so they are going back and I have to wait another week for the right ones

So this weekend I've been boarding out the loft ready for storage and fitting a temporary window now there is at least some weather protection above.

Hell at this rate I should be able to knock the wall down and get a car in it!!!

Completed garage will be 10.7m long by 3.0m-3.5m (the difference accounting for the fact I wasn't allowed to build on the boundry line between my garden and my neighbours garden

Anyway picys

Temporary window to be fabricated - longer term one of the house double glazed windows will be substituted as it does not conform to new building regs and I'm a tight git and reluctant to throw it away

Image

Gable end need to be built yet - I ran out of bricks

Image

This wall will be removed once the new part is weatherproof and secure

Image

Must relocate shed too - it's in front the patio doors - prepared an area behind the extension - just need to pour some concrete in there once I've done a bit of shuttering -shuttering being supplied by the offcuts from the loft boarding material

When I've finished today I'll put some new pics up

Woo - looking good. I love stuff like this - I used to be a QS.

Couple of questions, though:

Can't seem to see any holding down straps for the roof... With the weather becoming more exrteme I'd get these installed.

And - far more importantly - have you thought about some sort of trace heating? If this is for the long term storage of old cars, it could be a good investment.

Anyway - all good stuff. Of course, you are now obliged to post completed pictures.

Deek.

that sounds good! our drive can fit 5 cars on it but our reasonable large garage is full of other stuff! :? o and a shed full of stuff n all!
