Help! Suspension problem

I have a front shock absorber that has died and pissing oil.

I have uprated suspension, coil-overs, and my garage has asked me to get the part! Warning me it may cost bucks!

I thought that uprated shock absorbers use gas, not oil? So therefore do I have (or even can I have?) standard shock absorbers with uprated/after market coil-overs?!

I'd be grateful for any help, thanks!

Mk4 Polo by the way...

I think I didn't untherstand You (my bad  ), but I will say it anyway.

If you are changing just springs and leav original shocks, aou may drop car for jud 30-40mm. Anything below that is 2much and won't work right...

keeping standard shocks when lowering by 40mm will make the life of your shocks very very very short. I don't know the roads in UK, probably they are very good, but here the roads are horrible, so standard shocks with 40mm drop will kill the shocks in less than 6months

In Slovenia roads are good enough to do that...

Thanks chaps...

As it turns out I've now got to replace the suspension for the whole goddamn car...not good.

I'm going to have to get it tomorrow as well, so they can fit it into my car Monday/Tuesday :(

I'm looking at Spax or G-Max hardened suspension springs and shocks, NOT coil-overs. I've got a budget of £200-300.
