I know i can have groved and drilled disk, but i was wondering if i have the mk2 golf fronts brakes and capillars on me car, and is it poss to fit a servo on to me car?

Yeah, as long as the callipers are labelled 'VWII' they're a direct swap, and will let you fit vented discs.

You can get brakes off a G40 or a Mk1 Golf GTi.

I'm sure standard carriers will fit on the VWII calipers.

256mm brakes (Mk2 Golf GTI 16v spec) are not easy to get hold of.

There's a list on Porka.net somewhere of brakes that will fit.

Give them a try on your existing carriers then.. I got the carriers as well just in case, but I've never got round to fitting the brakes anyway..
The callipers have to be off a GTi or there's no point in changing them, the normal golf callipers are VW I just like the polo ones.

They won't fit unless they're 239mm, you'll need new carriers. In fact, you may even need new carriers for 239mm ones. Unless they're off a Mk1.

And as GC says, unless they're VWII calipers, they will offer you no advantage.

You dont need new carriers for the 239mm disks from a mk1 golf GTI or mk3 polo G40 or whatever else you find them on.

Out of interest, what size are the standard mk2 brakes?

239mm, but not vented.

G40 ones are the same size, but they're vented.

Shouldn't be too hard to get them off.. callipers are held on with two 6mm allen bolts, just remove them and pull it outwards from the centre of the disc from the bottom of the calliper. The disc then just unscrews and pulls off the hub. Shouldn't really take more than a few minutes, and I'm pretty sure it'll be worth the effort ;)

We were snappin the screw and they were stuck stiff on the disk, as we want to make sure that they would fit, then i was off out to buy some new dics :D
