I havent really heard much people saying they have done a lot of tuning to the Gti's.

I was just wondering what people here have had done and what sort of performance they have got with the mod's.

Not many people have tuned the engine, apart from a couple of peeps with NOS - there isn't a lot on the market

Ive got the BMC filter, few hose's, and a turbo size 70mm bore exhaust system! bout it untill i go to AMD during the summer for remap and a few upgrades!!!

Most people seem to follow the route of (a) induction kit, such as BMC, (b) cat-back exhaust - Scorpion, Magnex, or custom, say a Powerflow 'zorst for instance, and then (c) new ECU chip/remap. The three mods combined might fetch an extra 20-25bhp? Then you can polish the inlet manifold, have the engine bored out to a higher capacity (if that can be done on this engine) or at the extreme, fit a turbo kit!

Or you could go all-out and fit an engine transplant, such as the 1.8T 225bhp TT lump which would be very expensive! Lets say you could probably buy a second Polo GTi for the transplant, rolling-road setup and labour costs...

Wouldnt mind the 20v Turbo conversion but like you say its all about the money. Mines is the 1.4 8v (60BHP) seen a turbo conversion kit for it a while ago but not sure if i want to go down that road. I'd love a turbo but maybee not this engine.
