Also what mods are out there, performance wise?
any decent coilovers? exhaust systems?
i have seen spring packages but would prefer to change the shocks aswell.
and there is a top gear by me, but they arnt that good for performance increases really...

Elephant's quotes, for me at least, are sky high!!
I'm with Direct Line too, although a little older at 23 (nearly 24) with 5yrs NCB. £500 fully comprehensive, with a named driver (my Mum!) and protected NCB. Both these extras have added £100 to the quote, so
would have been more like £400! Direct Line have great cover, great legal assistance if you need it and are really helpful IMO. Only one downside... they don't like to insure modified rides until you're over 25!

i'm 19! i pay £1200 under my mum!
coilovers ~ i'm running SPAX RSX -75mm
Engine ~ BMC induction kit seems to be the one everybody goes for. works really well and sounds great! forget everything else, just save up for NOS!
Brakes ~ good luck if you want anything bigger than you've got! a good set of pads and rotors sort them
buy a GTi, its one of the best things i've done since i passed my test!

I'm 20, got quoted £686 on a GTi by Privilege.
That is however with the policy in my Mams name, thus taking advantage of her no claims, but with me as he main driver somehow.
However with the policy in my name it would have been about £1050.

Hi, you could try Bell Direct online also, direct line have always been dearer than elephant on the quotes we got, we have subaru and gti insured with elephant but I got a renewal quote from Bell direct which matched elephant quote.
