Alright Guys. After months of reading your posts with interest, I've finally got round to signing up. Bought a Red Polo Gti last November and have to say I'm loving it. Only mods so far are mudflaps, 6 disc in dash changer (big improvement on boot mounted job) and 6x9's. One of the best things about them is the fact there are very few on the road, I've only seen about 2/3 in Glasgow since i got it.

Only other Polos.Net member (Starbank) i've come across owns a Black Lupo Gti and spent about 1.5 hours racing me through the scottish borders last month (see 'Was That You?').........unfortunately he won!

Have also experienced many of the problems talked about in the forum i.e crunching gears, knocks from gearbox and rocking fourth gear, but overall ownership has been fairly hassle free........(touch wood).

Hopefully looking to get a BMC CDA fitted soon, and also a strut brace to tighten up the front end. Anybody know the best make/cheapest?

Cheers, only I have to tell you that I'm actually a Geordie........although if I could be anything else, it'd be a Glaswegian.

What are you driving at the minute? I'll need to keep an eye out...

ha ha ha, welcome new member! It seems if you map all the GTI owners my location I think you'd get a large concentration in Scotland and Sheffield! Must be something to do with the water!

Hello and welcom.

Get someone to make you a custom strut brace, Im gonna be doing some in the near future from stainless steel.

how much more will it cost tho? and would it be stiff enough?

Wouldnt cost that much to make one from stainless and it would be solid.

I'm not sure how much i'll be selling them for yet. The adjustable design i have is really good. Cant wait to see it done.
Once i get one on our mk5 i'll post up some pics.

Thanks for the warm welcome and advice on the strutbrace. Will look into getting one sorted out in the near future. I just have to wait 28 days for written authorisation from the wife to withdraw from the joint account....!!!

How many of you guys have them fitted and what are the results like?
