Hi, i have recently bought a 2001 polo GTI. The last couple of days i've been getting a whistling noise and sometimes a kind of scraping noise coming from the drivers rear wheel. I'm guessing it could be the wheel bearings can anyone shed some light on the situation??!!

It's driving me mad!

thanks Clees

Alright mate. Sounds like a problem I had recently which turned out to be the wheel bearing going (same wheel as well). The noise on mine got a lot louder at speed and by the time I took it to the garage the bearing was about to collapse so get it seen to early.

Cost £100 including fitting at a local garage for new bearing and hub (come together as one part), although god knows what a VW dealer would charge.

Hope you get it sorted anyway...........

front sqeeks....

Don’t know about the sound from the front but its defo the wheel bearing! If you are slightly mechanical minded do it yourself! It’s a piece of p***! They come as a sealed unit yo0u just slide it on! I paid £35 to watch a mechanic do it! Gutted!
