Hiya, i'm new to the site need some advice on a GTi as i am just about to buy one....

I'm considering buying a 1.6 GTi...the wheels are corroded but the place is going to sort the wheels, any idea as to how long they will stay in good condition?

Also with regards the the recall on the pedal box, if it hasn't already been done will VW still do this free of charge saying it was a manufacturer's fault or would i be charged?

Also has anyone ever had there car inspected before purchasing it? Would you recommend it? The car is going to be MOT'd and serviced.

Thanks, Sheena

Wheels should be fine for along time if you look after them ie. wash the brake dust and salt of them once a week.

If your getting the car from a main dealer probably not wort geting it inspected, If its from a inpedpend or private seller could well be worth the money.

Keep the wheels in good nick and you should be ok...........................

As for the recall..... If it hasn't already been done i would think that as long as you took it to an actual VW dealer they would do it free....... Seems to be differant ways of proving if the car has been done... Some dealers put stickers in the boot or the engine compartment and others like mine just gave me a completion certificate..... If you take the car to a dealer they can input the reg and it'll roll up a full VW service history for the car....If it has one. :? Even if that dealer hasn't done the work....... Well that's what my dealer told me a while back when i changed the info regarding my reg with them.

Happy GTi huntin'

Cheers

Dave.

Thanks for the information!

Its from a smaller garage but they are "uniparts" (if that means anything!) and get alot of business so i don't think they would con me!

I got a quote from a few places about a car inspection and i'm looking at £250
