colour code the side strips

am i correct in sayin that i'l need some diffrent side strips which are smooth that can be painted as current 1's aint

You can either buy some smooth, pre-primed strips, which Im told are a tad pricey, or find a good bodyshop that can smooth and paint the existing strips.

Can you Polo guys get primed ones then?
Us Ibiza people have to prep and prime them ourselves...mine are getting done in the next couple of weeks with any luck

No us SEAT guys can't, so I primed some new ones and am awaiting spraying.
