Hi

Does anyone know where to get black VW badges (back and front) for the 9N or is it a D.I.Y job?

VAG parts.

However it's easy enough to do it your self. I have several times.

i would love to get the vw badge off the boot black. does it come off easy enough?

anyone know if you fine sand it down, is it black underneath? i know one of my mates wire wooled his saxo badges from silver down to black

Bit of dental floss in a sawing action gets it off, heat the badge slightly with a hair dryer and it's even easier.

The badge goes through to white plastic so it wouldn't work like that.

It's all fairly easy. Also if you do it, match the background of the badge to the colour of the car

yeah, hairdryer on a hot day is very easy to take off

I was wrong VAG parts don't do them.

Get your self some wet and dry, some primer and a can of satin black spray paint from halfords and make ya own

it's easy!!

And while your at it if your doing the rear badge, get some paint the same colour of your car and paint the background of the badge to match the car. I don't recommend doing this for the front one.

You lied to me!!
The handy thing about having a black car, i can just spray the whole badge black....!!
Now all i've gotta do is find somewhere where it tells me how to take them off, then i can do it soon!! thanks!!

use a hairdryer, heat up the badge use dental floss to 'saw' thru the badge
Presto! its off

now use white spirit (or adhesive removers) to remove the excess.
do your job, and then use double sided sticky pads/tapes to stick the badge back on.

What ever you do don't leave your car while doing this process. Or (like in my case) come back to a man (my dad) doing it for you, with a wooden stick which "wooden sticks don't make marks" which is a lie! they do damn it.

Here's a handy how too link to the rear, follow the same kind of instructions for the chrome part too, maybe using slightly coarser sand paper/wet and dry.
