Multichanger lead..help!

My multichanger aint working..i rang the previous owner (as i have only just got the car), and he says it was disconnected as he had a aftermarket stereo in the car.
Ive found the lead, its tucked up under the glovebox.(under the carpet) it doesnt have much wire to it, so i cannot stretch far,(i.e up to the stereo) but i cannot see where it plugs into to.
it is plugged in at the multichanger end.
The guy i bought it off said he cannot see where it attaches into the back of the stereo, as there is no slot for it.
does it attach somewhere else? further down?
Anyone know? as i dont have any tapes!!
