Has anyone used one of these ?

It claims to plug right into the CD changer connection.

Any experiences ?

I got a dension ice-link for my Polo (2000) model which has the standard gamma head-unit with the additional single cd-player. I would definitly recommend one of these for any who has an ipod, its excellent! :D it does exactly what it says, connects through the cd-changer function and delivers superb sound quality with no-loss, in fact probably better sound quality than cd! :o Now i have tape, cd and mp3 all in one go! the convenience of not having to change cd all the time and having thousands of songs at hand on yuor ipod WILL make life easier! once you get the hang of it, you can change songs through your head-unit of your ipod (i'd recommend using it in ipod interface mode) and it charges your ipod at same time! Its pretty simple to install, i did manage to do so by myself, I could tell you how to if needed. I'd advise you to purchase a brodit clip specific for polo onto which u can fit the cradle for the ipod link, no need to drill into your dash yet very secure, looks much neater aswell! the link you posted for the kit is the best price for it, i did extensive research when i bought it back in january and it was the same price. I have the latest version the ice link plus, just make sure you the correct kit specific to your head unit. I'll post pics of my install, everyone who has seen it has been impressed by it and agrees with me thats it better than buying more expensive cd-mp3 head unit! any questions just email me!

Hi sorry about the late reply to this chain, but only had my polo for 1 week. I am looking at connecting my ipod, like the idea, although not the most important how do you manage to have a cd player linked as well as the ipod, does the single cd use a different connection on the gamma head unit to the boot changer ?

Looking a the photos on cooltopia website, my car has the switches at the bottom of the centre console like the shown base model (for progrip) ?

Thanks,

Neil

I believe it takes over the cd-changer socket, meaning you can't have a cd changer and the ipod interface connected at the same time, one or the other only

I could be wrong though - just its how it works with cd-changer to RCA type convertors on other headunits

(don't use the links they give you with .php in the url, use the 'direct image' link, or link 'for message boards' with the image tags :) )

looks really good m8, neat job

couple of questions, what is the brodit clip part number I need for a 2000 polo and where to get/how much?

how did you feed the wire through to the headunit? does it go down and up through the fan bits under foamy thing on passenger side of dash or some other way?

thanks
