I've got Goodyear Eagle F1's on mine and they are absolutely awesome tyres. Had some Toyos on and although they are wicked tyres I think the Goodyears offer more grip in both the wet and dry. Very highly recommended over here.:)

Yeah I think most GTI owners seem to go for the Toyos or the Eagle F1s.

I've not had either as my first set were Michelins ans now I'm on Pirellis P Zeros which I'm please with. They provide enough grip both dry and wet.

The Michelins I had before weren't so good in the wet but alright in the dry. I hear they are expensive though but seem to have lasted me quite some time.

The previous owner of my GTi didn't much care for quality tyres, I picked it up with Falkens on the back and Coopers (budget Avon) on the front. The Falkens were worn and have been swapped for Toyo Proxes T1Ss, the fronts are OK at the moment but will be swapped in June/July for Toyo Proxes T1Rs 8)

Like cyhliu says, most of us tend to go for Toyos or Goodyears. The Goodyears (tyre of choice is the Eagle F1 GS-D3) are about £10 more expensive each but I've heard that they grip like superglue, heh heh

My Toyos cost me £61 each fitted...

i'm runnin yoko a539's at the min and they are excellent, i had the falken 512's on prevously but got loads of understeer on hard cornering which was worrying!! :?

love toyos but cant justify changing them every 5000 miles coz theyre so soft!!

I have Pirelli P Zero Neros on mine because running 16 inch and only three tyres you can get in 195 40 16. I find the Neros excellent tyres, but as guys above are saying the Goodyear Eagle F1s are excellent we had used them as track tyres and were excellent.

I had A539s on previously they were ok no probs with them.

Thanks for all the feedback .

Sounds like the goodyear might be a nice choice !

might be tempted by a set of ronal turbos .

any one know if the do 16 's i like the way some tyres look like they have been stretched over the wheels how do you go about this sorry if i sound dumb

i know it is very popular wheel but you cant argue that it dont look the plums as we say ?

thanks chaps

next slammed on it ollys new wheels tyres oh yes the plastic is getting warmer in me pocket time to dust it down

they only do ronals in 15" x 7" and getting the stretched look will prob. require a wider rim... my 195/45/15 yoko's dont really look stretched

i had 195/45/16 over a 7.5" rim and they did look real stretched... get some 8" wide schmidts for the proper look!! :D
