Hia,

What master cylinder do I need to upgrade a 91 GT brake set up?

Is it the late MK16v Golf one?

cheers

do people prefer these? ive heard they can loose the feeling in the brakes and it makes the pedal require lots of extra effort on the drivers behalf

I've got the standard master cylinder on mine, I've heard mixed reviews on the 16v one.

Supposedly more power but less feel, though some people swear by them.

I've got a Passat 16v 22mm master cylinder with Audi carriers/calipers running Golf GTI 239mm vented disks with Golf GTI braided hoses.

It's fine.

I ditched the servo, made a new mounting plate and used a master cylinder from a mk2 as I prefer the feel of cars without servos

ive got the g40 brakes on mine (same as golf gti 8v i think) with braided hoses and the ate power discs, they are alot better, not necessarily at first but for heavy or long braking are alot better. well worth it.

although the discs eat pads but look cool!
