Hello!
Best route is to keep it clean and simple, no stick on spoilers or vents (though at the end of the day its entirely up to you!)
With it being a squareback, those rear arches might give you a spot of bother if you lower it or fit different wheels, though play it safe with the tyre profiles and you should be fine.
Exterior wise theres heaps of mods you can do, clear indicators and side repeators to get you started... they may be small but they mount up

.
Interior wise, you can change the steering wheel for an after market one, or one out of another VAG group car (though I quite like the standard Genesis one tbh), change the seats for more supportive ones, say out of a Polo G40 or GT, or with you having the Genesis, you can change the front seats for Scirocco GTII front seats which sit a bit lower and wider. Again just a few ideas...
Enjoy your stay.
Karl.

Yeah the polo, particularly the squareback, doesnt take kindly to being chavved up and the parts arent really available anyway (try putting a wing on THAT!). Best to stick to mildly tweaking the engine and handling to get a better driving experience and subtly smartening the interior/exterior in small but effective, satisfying ways.
Mind you, if you haven't retouched that photo at all before posting it, that might not be neccessary (save for some alloys

... looks like the previous owners really took care of it! No visible rust, and it's a tornado red that hasn't actually gone pink... garaged, was it?
nice one, welcome!
(PS 1.3 5speed is it? and what do you think on owning a car with an all-metal sunroof? looks smart

....but, best to aim a hose over it and check for leaks before you get a nasty, "britains worst driver" style shock down the back of your neck in a cloudburst!)

cheers for the advice people. i appreciate it. the previous owner had it for his wife, it hasn't been garaged, just looked after well. The sunroof works and keeps the water out. Its the 1.1 version 4 speed not the 1.3 5 speed, id like the 1.3 but my insurance would be too much for my first car.
thanks again, and hey, post some more ideas if you get any.

That car looks execptionally clean! Nice thing about the Genesis ones is that they come with very light factory tinted windows (greeny colour) and they look spot on! Mines a Genesis hatchback like yours but its a black 1.3 5 Speeder.

A 1043, 4 speed genesis... how odd!
Anyway hope you enjoy it, you can get a fair bit more fun out of that setup than you might first imagine. (Might just be the bouncy castle suspension and pram tyres, but hey..)
Just...... a-heh-heh... don't thrash it, enjoy the cruisin' nature and economy instead... and remember to change the oil + oil/air filters every 6000 miles or as and when you can afford it
(similar advice my dad gave me, i ignored in various ways, am now paying for

)
