Hi Chaps
Just bought a polo gti and really pleased with build quality and condition.Done my home work beforehand by using carsurvey and Parkers reviews which highlighted pedalbox and alloy wheels which both have been been undertaken under warranty prior to my purchase..I am experiencing 4th gear movement and crunching when going into reverse gear only.I can live with these aspects but can there be anything done to rectify these problems and also does anyone own any high mileage gti s out there so that i can be reassured that this car is capable of offering me reliable motoring in the future. Also do you think i paid over the odds for a 1 owner 01 with 34000 miles in exceptional condition for£6550.Your comments are appreciated.

Hi Hassan, welcome to the forum!

Personally I reckon you got a pretty good deal there if it is in as good a condition as you say it is, plus you've got the alloys sorted out too :)

My gearlever moves a bit in 4th too, just as you start to depress the gas pedal it just jumps a little. Reverse crunches a little bit sometimes as well so its not unusual. Mine (2000 W-plate) has done 61400 miles so far and has been as good as gold with regards to the pedal box, I had a few electrical niggles and a cambelt tensioner failure but all sorted out under warranty, and otherwise the car has been pretty much faultless!

I hope yours gives you many trouble-free miles... :?: by the way what colour is it?

Cheers

Leather would have been nice on mine but it was £1000 extra to get hold of a GTi with leather trim!!

One day, cash permitting and if I still have the Polo, I'd like a half-leather retrim with the seat centres done in the same check cloth from the Golf GTI... in the meantime, if it ain't broke...
