I use BP Ultimate and I get another 100 miles per tank even if I'm just pootling around town minding my own. If I get a good run out I can make 300 miles from a tank of fuel so something is definitely up
Have you made any modifications to the fueling/ECU setup? Is the car leaking anything when left parked up? Umm... I can't think of much else as I'm not very technically-minded but I'm sure someone can help you diagnose the problem successfully

has the car always done this since you've had it? you've got almost half a tank's worth going missing somewhere! Is most of your mileage done around town, or in traffic? (I do mostly A roads and m-ways and get 300 miles easily).
I think you might have difficulty spotting a leak because any petrol will evaporate fairly quickly.
Is the car warming up properly, i.e. the radiator getting hot?

yeah si gti i to use BP Ultimate and still get around 170- 190 if i am good

ive just done full service for the dealer about 1000 miles ago, the only thing i can think of is the tracking is slightly out and the tryes on the car do not match could this be a problem?

the car warming up properly, and the rad is ok! but if i drive around town it get pissed about 125 miles, it drinks more than my 993 4s which give me 140 miles for 35 quids!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not being funny but have you checked your brakes.
A couple of weeks ago i had a problems with mine and it turned out to be my rear pads which were falling apart. They were binding which was causing my fuel consumption to suffer.
I'd say you should be getting about 300 if not more from a tankful, doing normal driving.

You guys must all have a deformed right foot, that stops you putting the accelerator peddle hard to the deck!
The most I’ve had is 320 out of a tank and that was all motorways. Normal day to day, 220 or less if I go for a few runs into the country.

Only got a 1.4 here, but i put £20 every time and i always clock it cos i used to have fuel consumption problems in my old car. Anyways i get between 170 and 180 miles every time. Would expect in a gti you'd get between 140 to 150, sounds like you either drive like colin mcrae or you've definately got a problem

I get about 220 from a full tank at £35. All my journeys are 5 miles to work and 5 miles back tho, plus a few sessions of right foot to the floor at all times. Most i've had out of it was 350 and that was all motorway miles to the Polo Show.
If you've added an induction kit something that maybe worth looking at. When i fitted my BMC, my cold air take wasn't that good and my fuel economy went way down! Sorted now and i seem to be getting better milage.

I always get over 300 miles before the light comes I wouldn't say I drive slowly, I have hit just over 400 once out of tank on a trip to York from Scotland doing a fairly steady 60ish with the odd over taking on the A1. (Always use Optimax)
I would defo check your rear brakes they are known to sieze up easily I noticed mine were jammed pretty solid after my fuel consumption dropped big time I jacked the car up and I couldn't turn the back wheel by hand without almost pulling it off the trolly jack!
My pads had fallen apart on one side and I had to pretty much attack the pads on the other side with a hammer to get them out, changed the pads/discs (only £42 from the local autoparts store) and it sorted the fuel consumption problem and the traction problem I was having in the wet trying to pull a way quickly. The car also feels quicker and better round the corners which is always a bonus.

hahaha Just what i thought when i was reading this post Dubpolo, i get about 200 miles out of a full tank, as i do like to extend my right foot whilst drving
Dont tell me we have Polo GTI drivers that dont take it above 3000 RPM ?!?!?
haha cos that wud be really sucky
The way i see it is, dont buy a car your not going to use to its full potential, otherwise your just being a Poser :-p
Maybe im wrong? but why buy a car your not going to 'use'
*shrugs shoulders*

Don't get me wrong I'll get my foot down when the opportunity arises, but a lot of my travel at the moment is just around town and the suburbs, mostly 30 and 40 limits where I'm not willing to exceed the posted speed limit for fear of accumulating points on my license needlessly
My Polo regularly sees 4000+ RPM Calvin, have no fear there

but if I'm not belting around on the limiter... I guess that makes me a poser too?

I don't think I had the ecu mod for pure posing value!
I just don't cane it round town all the time, the traffic light grand prix isn't for me... I have my fun on the twisty A-roads!!
