What do you like best about your GTi

Hey,
I recently took my polo out for a nice little country drive, put a smile on my face! I wanna know what other Gti owners like best about their pride and joy.
For me its: I like the interior best of all, ive never seen ANY car with a nicer nightime display (The blue/red dash + climatronic), the wheels, and the xenon lights, of and ofcourse the fact they are rare!
Dunno what the hell i will get to replace this car, I love it to bits

Well, having had mine a few months, there's a lot I like about my GTi.
Performance is strong, I would have struggled really in my situation to get anything quicker. I love having the variable valve timing, cruising on the torque but then being able to make it really shift by pushing it right to the red.
Looks wise, I think the 6N2 and the GTi especially was a great piece of design. To me it just looks right, where as a lot of newer cars just don't do it for me. I guess its helped by having its origins in a car released over a decade ago.
And in general, I just love the actual fact of owning a "GTi", it's like having a little part of a legend in my garage. The spec-count is great for a little car, and yeah that interior is superb.
Think the only thing I'd replace it with is a MkV Golf GTi or maybe an Audi A3, in a few years of course

The looks of the car IMHO are spot-on, have to agree with Redline there! Just needs to be a touch lower to give it that sporty stance
Generally speaking, its just nice to have a good looking car with a high spec on my drive. The HID headlamps are brilliant - my next car in a few years' time will almost definitely have HIDs on it, I love 'em!
Performance is a bonus too
If I *had* to change my car in the near future for some reason, the only thing that could replace it is a new 5-door Golf GTI with HIDs in black...

I think I have a different point of view from everyone else on the Gti as I have a Civic Jordan, but the Mrs has just bought a Gti which I have had more than enough time to play in, and I have grown to love it
The first thing I have to say is that it’s a complete package. the interior is best in its class, the sound setup was surprisingly good, built well, quite quick, lovely sounding, so a pleasure to be in generally. I think they shine most at night with the above mentioned xenons and dials tho
I love my Civic mostly because of the engine, where as with the polo I could pick a few things that I love most, making it a great all round car imho
As for future cars, I’d guess people wouldn’t know what they want because we get the best of most things in the polo...so would have to decide if we wanted speed, a good interior, good looks etc etc!

i def agree with you guys about the interior, anyone who gets into my car at night always comment about the wicked looking dials n that.
I personally like the BMC Air Filter on mine (not standard to the car i know) but it makes the car gargle and sound so lush its unreal
The interior is sweet as, def best in its class, i mean look at thre Citreon Saxo interior Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww and also the standard wheels that come with the saxo are a complete pile of poo !
I really luv my Gti and refer to it as my baby when talking to ppl haha sad i know !
Theres is only one problem i see with the Gti, why does anyone who knows nothing about cars always say . . .
"
is that a Golf ? "
ahahah so annoying !!!

I like the car cos of the spec level There aren't many small cars out there with the kit that the GTi has!!!...... Also doooooon't ya just loooove how the dash lights go out gradually and not just off.... Little things like that just top it off.....
It's also something special because of it's rarety. It always get's a good looking over whenever you pull alongside or across from another sporty VW like a golf GTi etc.....
Cheers
Dave.

I love te view from the drivers seat at night, thats what sold the car to me originally believe it or not!
Also I like the fact that my car is 1 of 3,000 made and not like the Saxo VTR, 1 of 3,000,000!!!

Gotta admit mate, grannymobiles don't usually have reiger splitters, lowered suspension and 16" rims do they?
Bide your time, get a bit of no claims, and you'll soon be able to get that GTi on your driveway
Another good thing I thought of today about the Polo... on the way home today I pulled up alongside a chavved Corsa at a roundabout - lexus lights, big 'zorst, 16" "Dezent" (read: cheapo Halfrauds/Ripspeed - and he's kerbed the NSF rim!) alloys and the ride-height of a bus

and I thought to myself, the cash he paid for his alloys and cheap tyres would only get him
1 BBS rim (with no tyre) as fitted to my lovely black Polo

I love the second gear ratio , is great for corners. Just taping the pedel gives you a real burst of speed , right up to the red line.
The only thing I find is that you have to give it a load of revs in first gear to pull away smoothly? , however this might just be me geting used to the clutch as its just had the recall.
I think as others have said , its the whole package that makes the car what it is. VW could not afford to make very many because of the high cost to themselves and the orginal owner! Those of us who are snapping them up now are getting a real treat. Having looked for a couple of months for a new vag car , it really was the best option.
I'm not really after attention , but I am pretty surpised by all the people who point or give a double glance in their rear-view mirror. Perhaps they think its the new 'golf minus' model to go with the golf plus!?

I like the noise it makes when you're giving it some stick at about 5000 rpm! I think a BMC would make it even better
I love the xenons too, people always used to comment on them as it was rare to see them on a small car.
The only thing I dont like is the 1's on the seats...
