Can somebody please please help. Bought a G reg polo cl for my daughter, with one problem! The car starts ok, and while the choke is on there isn't a problem. Once the choke knocks off, the car will not idle. I hear that Pierburg carbs can be a bit dodgy, but no-one can tell me what is wrong. Is the carb stuffed, or is there a part that can be replaced. The only way to keep it running when say at a set of lights is to keep your foot on the pedal. It can be quite tricky juggling everything to keep it going sometimes!! Hope there is an easy (and cheap!!)answer, but knowing my luck there wont be.

The problem may or may not lie deeper than this, but I imagine that if you wind the idle screw up a bit it'll run alright. While it's on the choke it's running on fast idle, as soon as the choke opens up it's idling according to the idle screw, so if this is too low the revs will drop down too far for the engine to sustain.
The screw you want is the big one on the front left of the carb if looking at it from the front of the car.

Blocked idle jet? Dead easy to get to on this Carb, take the air cleaner lid off and the three small bolts holdind the small black plate and it is right in front off you. Quick one to check.
