Hello everyone

My girlfriend purchased a mark v gti about a month ago on a w reg with 30k on it..she is pleased with it and we were both shocked how many extras it can with compared to her last car that was a 206cc

but anyway she is complaining to me about the clutch it really stiff.. is this a common thing with the polo gti's?

ive just picked it up from vw to have the clutch box changed because it was under warrentee but it still hasn't made any difference.

any advise would be nice.. ive also used the search facility on ere and got totally lost

i will also post some pic's

Nice mate, looks like a good car although I personally wouldn't have those rims over the BBS standard splits.

Nice headunit.

Fair play. Not much can go wrong with suspension though really, unless it's through driver error.:)

Anyway staying on topic, very nice car mate, wish I could find one with leather:(

Hello, well I should really move this to the GTI section as it really belongs there and the guys will be able to answer some of your questions, however the MkV lads should be able to as well.

The clutch is heavy, one of the things about the GTI, not sure about the other models in the range. The pedal box being replaced won't resolve it as it is to do with the clutch...some even suspect it is because of the heavy clutch that the pedal box fails so much.

Yes, the GTI comes fully kitted and from what I can see your's is pretty fully spec'd to the top, with the leather and the Sat Nav. I think you got a bargain there (can't remember or if you posted how much you got it for but there aren't many around with both!).

The wheels, yes, they should have come with the BBS RXII split rims. You may be able to find a set for sale knocking about although I have to say they are pretty rare as they only came on the GTIs and so you will need to find a owner who has changed their wheels for some aftermarket ones and have the originals to sell. Also be prepared to see many with corrosion as it is a very very very common problem with them.

Enjoy the car, I'm sure you will and hope to meet you sometime.

hi and welcome! i've just joined yesterday!

the clutch is hard to use on mine, it hurts my knee as well! it must b a VW thing, never owned a VW and will probably take a while to get use to it. only had the car for 3 weeks.

ur girlfriend as the nearly the same as mine but with no sat nav.

Welcome :D

Nice car, pretty much full spec, kind of rare and impressive.

See it has the all red GTi badge on the front. Wanna swap?

And yes, the clutch is heavy. Think it is GTi specific as my Mk5 1.0 didnt feel so heavy.

She got the car for £6,500 and the guy that sold it to her said the red gti is supposed to be more bhp... i thought hmm

The good thing about this forum ive noticed a Seat Ibiza section which is perfect for me because i have a cupra :D
