hi, i drive a polo 9n, i want to have two stereos running in my car, the first one is just an mp3 stereo, but i have just bought and alpine stereo with a screen that flips out, i want to use the alpine to play my ps2, i could get a cd changer for the alpine and just run that, but if it was cheaper to buy some sort of cable to run both at the same time then any information would be helpfull, i looked for some sort of dual cable but could not get anything, basically all i need to do is some how power the alpine stereo. any help please!

hi, i also have a 9n and was talking to my local ICE dealer and spoke about having my original alpine headunit and buying a screen but they said that the new screens just run on there own and cannot be connected with another headunit like you are wanting to do, but they didn't say you could not make/buy a double lead adaptor so maybe there is some way around this, let me know if you get anywhere with it.

Wouldnt The Alpine alreadyplay DVD's usually the flip out screens do (could be wrong though)

If it does play dvd's then chances are it'll play mp3 to.

short answer is no you cant.

long answer: you could- but would be a headache and a half to wire- plus would mean splicing speaker and power cables which is unprofessional. also runs the risk of the speaker outputs on one shorting the outputs on the other unit (and/or vice versa- or possibly both units) just not worth the hassle at all.

what model is the alpine flipscreen? If its one from the basic range flipscreens (model number will start with "CVA" e.g CVA-1004, CVA-1004RB etc) then will need an external DVD player. you could sell the second head unit and pick up something like a centurion single din DVD player that will also play MP3's e.g:

Blaupunkt DVD ME4 (plays MP3,CDRW,CD,DVD)

Image

costs £200, if you get half that for your head unit you sell then you have done alright. both systems will work together and run simultaneously :)

oh- if the model number starts "IVA" (e.g. IVA-D310RB, IVA-D901 IVA-D301R etc) then it should have DVD AND MP3 built in.

sorted :)

easiest option then is to get an alpine CHAS634. its a six disc MP3 changer and shouldnt cost more than £200. will run directly off that, if you are connecting your playstation 2 then run the DVD's off that? would be cheapest and most effective option i guess.:)

I know what ur on about I had a vauxhall nova not so long back with a sony tape unit then a sony mp3 unit all you do is get double connectors to wire them up great advantage easy to wire up on iso connectors
