Back to the dealer's. Again.

This time I'm trying VW Recreio, which prides itself in being the world's largest VW-franchised dealer.

I won't have the car until Saturday, but this time it's final: the rattles must go. Oh, and it would be really nice if they fixed the air recirc.

Let's see what happens, especially since they'll have the car for longer than anyone else has. I'm losing my patience and have really lost faith in VW and its dealers.

I know I'm probably over-reacting to minor problems, but it's not the rattles and small things not working that really bother me, it's the complete inability of VW service to fix those things! I dread the day when my warranty expires...

Well, enough rant for the day! Now to brighter things...

So what exactly is rattling??

Can you not fix them yourself??

Well, basically everything rattles.

Dashboard: side vents (both sides'), central console, instrument cluster.

Central tunnel trim: near handbrake.

Front doors: both doors' panels are rattling.

Rear door: left-hand side.

Boot: Not sure where, but there's a rattle coming from there as well.

I still don't have the suspension rattles most people seem to be complaining about at Brazilian and Portuguese dealers (from what I gather from people here and portuguese and spanish forums). But I suspect it's only a matter of time.

Well, it had to happen. And VW Recreio managed it.

They have BUTCHERED my dashboard.

This moning I went to pick up my Polo (which had been at the dealer since wednesday because of rattles and ventilation) and not only was the interior dirty like the car had been in a rally or something, there were also scratches on the centre console (partly disguised by dirty finger and hand marks) and the radio was displaced and kinda sticking out... Plus the centre console was actually rattling MORE than it did before (it rattled with engine vibration!).

I was furious, but couldn't vent my anger: not even the 'technical consultant' that had taken my car was there (it's saturday...), no service manager, nothing!

Back home, I phoned them and left specific instructions for the MANAGER to contact me on monday or I'd start taking steps with Consumer Relations.

Man, I really need some heavy metal music to calm me down right now, I really felt like selling the damn thing to someone at the dealer's forecourt!

I'm FURIOUS!!!!

Welcome to the club.

It'll pass, don't worry- keep the argument reasonable and friendly, you'll need them some more in the future.

Good luck mate.
