Roof aerial

Does anyone know where I can get a shorter aerial as my garage is low and I don't want to keep taking it off and putting it back!
I know my reception will suffer, but not too fussed as I listen to CD'S 90% of the time anyway.
I have asked around and no-one seems to know for the new Polo

I already have about 5 mods planned, so I'll leave the suspension, well for a while anyways!
I had a look in Halfords but they don't look any smaller, might try the Honda route though...

I must have told this to about a million people now...
- Unscrew your antenna (VW Bee-Sting Plastic Type only)
See the top plastic cap over the end of the helically wound antenna? Heat this up with a hairdryer.
Pull this small plastic cap off when it is hot enough.
Get some wire cutters and cut the antenna (with the wire wrapped round it) to the desired length.
Push the end cap back on (if it's loose, put a dab of glue inside it first).
Booyah... One shortened Bee-Sting antenna. Cost: Nothing
Hope this helps!
Be carefull with hot stuff, sharp things and glue /disclaimer

Wow that sounds scary, but effective!
Good idea though, as I'll be able to cut it to the exact length I need it.
I could always buy another one too, so I could cut one and have the other, JUST in case I do suffer loss of reception.

I couldn't find it, but I read that you get at it from underneath!!!
Oh no, I think I'll cut the garage instead!

uhoh.... Don't cut your garage!
You need to twist the antenna off (it has a screw at the bottom of the antenna which goes into the black base that is attached to the roof)
You will see the base, then a fat bit of antenna, then a thin shaft, then a plastic cap (the top of the antenna)
Grab the fat bit of the antenna and unscrew it from the base.
It's so easy, there's nothing to it (why do you think it's so easy for kids to nick our antennas?)
Just unscrew the antenna, heat up the top plastic cap and remove it, cut the thin bit to the desired length, put the plastic cap back on, screw the antenna back on, look really happy

Opps, I thought it meant to remove the aerial you have to undo the bolt under the headlining!

I have used the Mini Bee Sting and the radio reception was VERY poor, the others look okay though.
Oh like the TDI badge, shame it's not the red one

Looking at this page

They're a different size aren't they? Not 100% though
