Came across a few of these on fleabay just wondered if anyone has any experience with them??

ive been looking into plug in units, been less than £30 seems far too cheap, i was thinking about the "tunit" unit, about £390, for an extra 30 bhp.

tunit- how easy is it to install this puppy and what about added stress on the engine/drivetrain etc and what about engine temp indication etc?
--oops, seems that the tunit is only for diesel engines. What is a recommended chip for the petrol 1.4 75bhp (16v) polo mk6?
Would the increased horses (i.e. 20 - 30bhp) result in a slower top end and just higher acceleration and torque or?

Found someone who has one on his fabia VRS and he said its really good and easy to remove if it has to go to the garage (if under warranty) Only problem he finds that if crawling through town and you put your foot down you get a bit of black smoke but not always.

woohoo wouldnt mind getting one of them..... anywhere in uk you can 'get them over the counter'... or would they be more of an 'under the counter' purchase?

Is a 51 plate the same style as mine? (see siggy for pic)
If so i believe it would.
The good thing about them is you can remove and put them in with 10 mins and are fairly cheap compared to tunit boxes. Also I've been told you may get a few lights on the dash every now and then but these can be reset by vw.

ah.... ive posted on the wrong forum.... ive got the earlier 'square' version.
ive found a place near me and have sent them an email, im a it weary of having one installed though...

different outer shell but its the same engine.. 1.4 TDI 3 cyl

The £30 ones are just 7p resistors in a fancy box that fool the fuel temp sensor.
If you want proper tuning, avoid boxes and go for a remap, like Revo (
www.revotechnik.com). I've heard nothing but horror stories with boxes, even the branded ones.

I`ve bought one of these from e-bay it`s worth a try for under 30 quid, and if it`s guff i`ll just take it off

Tuning boxes are fine if you enjoy your car going into Limp Mode all the time.
Get a real remap.
