Collected my 9n 1.2 SE last night, very pleased indeed with it, absolutely ideal for the small amounts of local driving I do now (since I got a motorbike for the high-speed stuff ) and it was very pleasant on the longish drive home, and was surprisingly happy & quiet at 85mph on the motorway.

Pleased with the roadholding and handling etc, although did feel the grip start to loosen at a speed on a tightish roundabout where my Saab 9-3 with it's 16's had no problems. I guess I should look for some cheap basic alloys for the polo to improve grip before the winter as I shall use the car a lot more then. Any tips for bargain alloys for the car? What size should I look for, 16's? If I go for 16's will I need to do any set up on the car?

My 1.4 TDi as 205/40/16's and i love the handling. Holds the road nice round roundabout at speed.

That's lowered about 10cm (i think its that much, Aaron will correct me I'm sure) and stiffened as its the sport model.

defo not 10cm

its 5-10mm , ive got 215/35/18 and sticks like glue round roundabouts

And that 10mm is like you cannot even see the difference. I had this "sport suspension" on mine ´till I got Eibach Sport-System (lowering 45-50mm front, 30-35mm rear, both springs and shocks). Made handling much better compared to the original suspension.

I´m under the impression that Eibach makes all springs for VW, so I´m not surprised that the lowering springs work that well.

Velcome to zee dubclub, 16's with 205's make a tidy improvement to cornering ability without adding to much extra weight to the car, lowering mine on Tuesday on Eibach sportlines will post some pics for everyone to have a look at then.
