The tanks are just over 9 gallons in capacity and if you drive it around sensibly, with mostly motorway journeys, you should get 370-380 miles out of a tank, which is 41-42 MPG.
I've once managed to get 400 miles out of a tank in the 1 litre. I got 380 to a tank out of the GT on it's first run.

all depends on driving style
manual says they'll do nearly 60mpg at 56mph, and having done some basic tests i'd be incline to agree with that
75 is low 40s/high 30s
however if you spank it regularly then it'll be dropping into the twenties - or worse if you do lots of cross city / hard acceleration stuff

I get 37mpg if I thrash it, 39 driving normally (country lanes / about town), 43 if I drive very carefully. On the motorway I get 41-44mpg depending on how fast / how carefully I'm driving it. This is all on a mk2 1043cc with a carb and a close ratio gearbox, so you should be expecting a touch more as your car has fuel injection and is a bit more aerodynamic, and (I assume?) has a 4+e economy gearbox.

i'm not sure on the fuel consumption of my GT, but it never takes more than £31 to fill it. That is with Optimax too, which is a good 8p per litre more expensive than standard unleaded. I don't drive it like Miss Daisy either, it does get used.
I've dared to go 340 miles on a tank full, and its still reading quarter (about 2 gallons), but I've noticed for the first 120 miles the guage hardly moves from full, then will drop slowly to half, then quite quickly after that.
I've heard about the reputation of Polo fuel gauges, so after 340miles I chickened out. I'd like to see how far it will go before running dry, but being MPi i'm anxious about the consequences of running completely dry.

think my problem is that i always stay local and drive round towns etc. Not done a long motorway journey yet. I usually get 230/240 just 'pottering around'.
