wheres the cheapest and best place to get a weber carb from?!??

Fraid your gona have trouble there mate, I got my twin choke pierburg replacement [32dmtr] off Overmind for a tad over a ton but the best place to look for them is on ebay, ive seen a few go for about £70 brand new!!!
Thing is they have stopped making them now and german and swedish and euro car parts dont supply them any more as a kit! They used to cost £230 so anything found for around the hundred mark is a bargain. Put a wanted post up in the wanted section on here and on porka. Il keep an eye out matey

Could have sworn I got an email from webcon saying weber had started producing carbs again.. but I can't find it so maybe it's just something I made up.

I got my weber from ebay for about £50, but it's a 32TL, ie the carb for the 1043cc rather than the 1.3 so in much less demand. Ebay is definately your best bet though.

i'm kindof new to the polo scene so could someone explain why webbers are so good? atleast so good that i should think about spending £100 on a webber for my £50 car? i've heard bout double webber carbs doing crazy things to a cars bhp but what do single webbers do?

p.s i'm not questioning your decision to want one, i'm just ignorant

They are just generally a more reliable carb, they operate well and tend to give more bhp when jetted correctly. Some 1043's had them fitted as standard-polo kris has got one [spare I think!?] as hes putting some monster twin choke on his now.

The main thing is for reliability. The pierburgs are notorious for screwing up. Usually it's the auto choke that dies, but the possible problems are endless. The weber replacements have manual chokes, so one less thing to worry about, and are more reliable generally.
The webers that were fitted to some of the 1043's as standard are the 32TLA's, basically what I have now but with an auto choke. Much better than the pierburgs, but it'd be too restrictive for the 1.3, it's only a single barrel affair. For the 1.3 you can get more of a performance upgrade out of a weber replacement.. can't remember the model carb you need but you can get twin choke carbs to fit which will be a lot less restrictive than the standard one.

Webber haven't started to make carbs again but webcon have taken on the right to build the "Twin" series so to speak etc.. Twin 40's....
