Hello and a couple of questions!

Just wanted to say Hi and thanks for an excellent forum! Bought my car new two weeks ago. First diesel I've ever owned but well impressed - just finished the first tank of fuel at 495 miles.
Supplying dealer was sold out of fitted mats so rang round a few others but all quoting 'a few weeks 'til they arrive' So if anybody's seen some for sale in their local dealer would you IM me thanks.
Also should the spare wheel be an alloy?

No, your spare wheel is always a light 'space saver' wheel. and its always stupidly small sized

Hi Deeper,
Welcome to the forum and good choice of car
495 miles from your first tank is quite a result! I've not managed over 450 yet so either it's Tesco crappy diesel or my right foot isn't quite as light as yours!
I had to wait a couple of weeks to get mats too. New Polo bits seem to be in high demand at the moment.
I have the optional 16" San Marinos and I've got a spare one in the boot - I don't know if this is normal, as even the salesman looked suprised when he saw it as he showed me round the car when I picked it up, but i'm pretty damn pleased about it!
Check out the DIY section for the 9n cubby box mod - well worth it!
Leon.

KarlM,
We get full size spares on the 9n.
Think they've given up on the mini spare wheels now.

I think Polos are selling like hotcakes at the moment as I'm seeing more of them on the road. Looks like the drop in price and the adverts has worked.
Also, I heard that prices has gone up my 100 pounds.

Thanks for the welcome
Interesting about the spare wheel cos I've got the 16" Barcelonas but the spare is a 15" steel! Asked because I noticed somone here advertising a set of 5 Barcelonas and Leon you've confirmed my suspicion by having a 16" spare. I'll call the dealer tomorrow.
Leon - How long have you had yours? I started looking about 8 weeks ago but was too impatient to wait, so asked what they had in group stock. I was offered the identical spec to yours but my wallet wouldn't stretch to all those options - nice car! The cubby box is next - already done the sunglass holder and headlamp protectors thanks to this forum
Scorpio - Basically I think it's a great car. Engine still a bit tight I suppose but it just continues to impress. Much prefer the whole package, to a Mk4 Golf GTi I had for a few months. Reminds me of my old Mk2 Golf Gti - must be a size thing!

Welcome, Deeper...
Don't know if this is even relevant, but I have 15" Melbournes from the factory and a steel spare.
Deek.
(It's been a while since I posted - had to post something so you'd all know I haven't died, or anything

)

I think as far as i've gathered that most dealers will probably go the cheap way of just giving u a space saver so if u get a steel or an alloy i'd cout ya self lucky!!

Ahh thanks Karl
Spoke to the dealer and a mix up at pdi - they'd mixed my spare barcelona with the spare steel from another tdi sport with 15" Melbournes done on the same day. Fortunately it's their demo so wheel waiting for me to collect.
Thanks again everyone.

Glad you got your spare wheel sorted out with the dealer - good job you checked!
I've had my car about 8 weeks now and have covered almost 3k miles. Mine came from group stock too. I didn't want to wait the 8-12wks for a factory build. They didn't have many 5dr 1.9TDi Sports floating around but this one came up and although I didn't really want all the extras like cruise and heated seats, the dealer did me a good deal so I ended up quite happy.
Could you post a pic of the headlamp protectors? Would be very interested to see them!
