Been Looking at Pics/Stats on the Phaeton, seems pretty damm Quick/Big/Luxurious.

I missed the Top Gear feature so haven't seen one in action.

Anyone Got One/Driven One/Seen One

The word "Phaeton" comes from the Greek Myth Phaeton, a young man killed by Zeus' thunderbolt after running amok with his Dad's Sun Chariot.

Just read a test that slammed it, mainly because of its weight. It weighs around 250 kg more than the A8 (that has AWD, and a V8 ). So it doesn't handle as well as it should, and it drains the tank rather quickly as well.

But... I'd still drive/borrow/want one!

Me! Drove a 3.2 one locally on Friday afternoon. For a base model it's bloody fast!

My father drove the W12 version a couple of months back. In his own words it was "stupidly fast", and from someone who drives an Impreza STi I reckon thats a genuine compliment.

I still cant get over Clarkson liking it on Top Gear. It struck me as the kind of car he would see as pointless. But personally I'd prefer this supposed R60 version of the Phaeton using the Bentley Continental GT engine that Autocar keep banging on about, even after VW denied it existed :)

Bentley Continental GT. Mmmmmmmmmmmm

Got to be the Ultimate in Big Fast Luxury Cars.

Don't know too much about engines, but hasn't it got a massive twin turbo lump with so much torque that they haven't got the equipment to test it's pulling power.
