Hmmm,,, Cant go wrong with the Golf... I too was going to buy a golf.
Bought myself a polo just to get some ncb.
Only had it a month and Im thinkin.... "I NEED MORE POWER".
Having driven a 1.8 (my dads car) now driving 1.4 I cant do the things i did before. Either way its up to you... mk5 gti's pretty nippy too I test drove one about 2 months ago...

seeing as i only have 1 years ncb and being 22 i can only afford a 1.6 16v golf
id just get sum nice 17 for it or sommat but then i look at the polo gti and think that could be fun
wonder if i could get insurance on the smallest engined golf gti

how about an audi a3?? The insurance should roughly be the same as for the golf. Try admiral they seem to give the best quotes these days (well that was the case for me)

take it easy on the clutch and dont get over excited... I dont see why you cant handle it.... with experience start stepping on it ...
Its a fantastic car....
Take it easy!!
